According to six major domestic carriers serving Okinawa the number of passengers flying to Okinawa in May increased 11.2 percent compared to last year.

That is 1.21 million passengers in total traveled to Okinawa in May. The carriers cited a major increase in the number of passengers flying between Haneda in Tokyo and Naha, including both groups and individuals. Another major increase in numbers was seen between Naha and Itami Airport in Osaka. Extra flights during the Golden Week also played a big role.
